Welcome to Ararat, where you’ll find a mountain of the most delectable Mediterranean specialties awaiting you and your family!
Ararat, located at 18th in the Castro, offers both flavorful tapas dishes and full entrees you wouldn’t normally be able to discover without a passport in hand -- but the best part about your voyage is that everything on the menu, from savory appetizers like their delicious Kalamarika to entrees like the Kavurma Tender, are prepared fresh daily with the finest ingredients.
Ararat’s Owner Koch Salgut and Chef Caskun Bektas’ commitment to cuisine excellence comes from their daily shopping trips to discover the best ingredients for their dishes. They bring 22 years of industry experience to Ararat, including five in Istanbul, giving them a unique ability to bring a very real Mediterranean dining experience to San Francisco!
Ararat is a fairly new tenant to the Castro, having opened up their doors on March 7, but promises to be a neighborhood mainstay. Not only does Ararat feature a full menu, including their tempting deserts (don’t miss the Nightingale’s Nest, a delightful assortment of lavender honey Baklavas), but the restaurant also features a full bar.
Prices remain very reasonable. Their signature entree, the Beyti Kabab – lavash rolls filled with ground sirloin served with garlic-flavored yougurt – will only set you back $16, and most of their kebab tapas all run under $10.
